Announcing H3O Embrace - pure Crystal data management application

Dear community,

I just published a first release of “Embrace”, a generic data management system for human manageable data - for everybody, i.e. with a very low entry threshold. As a starting point you can think of it as a synthesis of spreadsheets, databases and version control system - but your possibilities quickly grow.

Actually I find it pretty hard to describe - if you know pivot tables of spreadsheets, you know that some things you just have to see to understand. So, if you’re curious, you can find it on H3O Embrace - Start Embracing Your Data!. You will find linked some (growing) number of tutorial videos as well.
It’s not on github (so no FOSS), but it’s completely free for non-profit use.

I started out on it March 2021 with Crystal 0.36 still (after having abandoned C++ yet again), later incorporating @oprypin 's Dear ImGui port, fighting my way through all of my own and also some of Crystal’s bugs :slightly_smiling_face:.

Thanks to the whole community for your support of such a great language!

Windows only?

Honestly, it’s a bit hard to believe, a tool’s made use Crystal first supported platform is Windows.

@zw963 maybe you want to re-check

Okay, apply for license and downloaded then ran it, the font looks pretty small (on a 4K monitor 100% scaling + GNOME wayland)

I guess it’s because of some UI library dependencies, so it has to be wrapped in an AppImage format to run it, right?

@zw963 actually, you should be able to Ctrl+NumPadPlus or Ctrl+MouseWheel for this
