How to start a new topic when there is a draft

I have a tab “Drafts” in my profile, even showing a count, so I assume I should be able to store multiple drafts.

But I am not even able to start writing a new topic when there is already a draft (because as soon as the form opens, the already existing draft gets loaded). If I click the " + Create new Topic" on top of the form, I am only offered to write a personal message instead).

Is there no way to create a new topic while there is some draft stored, is there a bug, or am I not seeing something obvious?

Drafts in Discourse are per topic and you can only have a single draft for a new topic.

A possible workaround is to send yourself messages with drafts for new topic:
