Arf, so others ideas ?
Ingeniux
Hi guys, I am happy to share to you a screenshot of the first installation of the system I am working on with my package manager write in crystal.
I decided to call this project Horizon.
As you can see, now my Linux distribution become usable for my own needs
I just published an article about the advancement of the project
I am working on now the video in English. Sorry for the waiting time. I have difficulties actually with my health. I do my best :x
Hi guys !
I am very excited today to share with you the first video demonstration of my project !
And in english !
Your support means the world - feel free to like the video and drop your comments
Main post: Zohran Londais on LinkedIn: ISM (Ingenius System Manager) - Full Demonstration !
Why we need install Crystal in the boot CD environment? you can offer a pre-built binary instead to make install process easier.
╰──➤ $ ldd bin/ISM
statically linked
you can built static version use docker or zig cc
.
And then you need docker in the liveCD right ? So xD
And no you definitely require crystal. ISM call internally crystal
really?
what i said is, compile ism binary(e.g. use github, and download it from github instead of built from live CD). so, what you means is, ISM not only built use Crystal, it call Crystal compiler to do something when running?
It will not be a “problem”. It’s just at the moment I didn’t make a liveCD specially for ISM, this is why you need to install few things.
I completely understood what you said, but yes ISM at some point call the compiler itself , for example to run task in interpreted mode or to compile them.
And Linux should use program linked dynamically , or you destroy one of the main interest of Linux based system.
And we just talk about running: apt install crystal.
It’s not a big deal …
But as I said, later I will provide an iso specially for this. But it’s not my priority for now
The livecd used is the one of kubuntu.
And the main interest of this technology is to build from source, not to provide binaries (even it’s planed too)
If I remember compile crystal in the virtual machine took me 30 secondes, so …
Just to let you know guys, I just updated the wiki, and now the first ISO is available !
