What are Crystal programmers called?

Thinking ahead to when the use of Crystal explodes, there needs to be an agreed upon name to call its users (think swag, article references, etc). Can’t have Crystal conferences, meetups, etc without a name people in the community use to refer to themselves as. :blush:

So if you use Ruby you’re a Rubyist.
And when you use Crystal you’re a ???

OK, my humble suggestions to get the ball rolling.

Crystalnistas (like for Python)
Crystalers
Crystalomergers
Crystaldoers
Crysters

Maybe make it a contest to draw attention and notoriety.

I love that a language communities have some concise words for their members. I’ve always thought “Gophers” was a pretty fun one.

A couple more I thought about for Crystal:

  • Crystalier (makes me think of “cavalier” or “musketeer” :joy:)
  • Crystalizer

Crystalites is what came to my mind, but I like Crystaliers (with a strong French accent) a lot too :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think Crystalizer is totally kool. Therefore Crystal programmers would be Crystalizers.
I can also see future IT projects as being crytalized due to using Crystal in order to solve problems in a timely manner. And aren’t we always trying to “crystalize” things in terms of accomplishing tasks & getting sh!t done? Just my 2 cents. :thinking:

I find crystalers and crystalizers to be boring and awkward, respectively. These are the ones I like:

  • crystaliers
  • cryshills
  • jewelers
  • followers of cryst
  • crystics (like mystics) (possibly spelled crystiks?)

…with crystiks and crystaliers being my favorites.
